Changes to Fresh 4 Less 2015
The Healthy Bodies, Minds and Spirits advisory committee would like to inform the community of the revised Fresh 4 Less program.
For the 2015 year community members and EGFN staff will have the chance to purchase either a $10 small box (estimated $20 of veggies) or a $20 big box (estimated $35 of veggies). This will replace the one $15 box option. We had received feedback from surveys and word of mouth that the boxes were too big for some small families and especially elders or single people.
A percentage of the funds raised will go towards the students of Eel Ground First Nation School and their Home and School association. These funds will allow the students to take part in different wellness activities such as sports, and field trips. It will also help with their Healthy Canteen.
Once the students move into the new school the Fresh 4 Less program will benefit from their support and help. Packing boxes, doing the math to divide up the produce and learning about community volunteering.
This is a community and volunteer led program and without the support of our community this program would not be able to have the impact it has.
If anyone would like to sponsor a box for someone or would like a box of your own please call or visit the Health Centre. If you would like to volunteer in packing the boxes or delivering boxes please call or visit the Health Centre.
Thanks to everyone that has been helping and here’s to more fruits and veggies in 2015!
This Month: Money is due January 16th and boxes are to be picked up January 21st, 2015.
