RE: Covid-19 / Corona Virus Response
This global pandemic requires concerted efforts to limit gatherings, to slow the spread of this virus that is especially lethal to the elderly and the immune-compromised. Action now by all levels of government will ease the stress on the healthcare system. As such, all Band travel and non-essential meetings will be postponed. Additionally, a health information package will be distributed house to house by the Health Centre. Further notices will be posted as the situation continues to evolve.
In an effort to help slow the spread, and limit transmission of Covid-19, and to protect the most vulnerable, we are enacting the following precautionary measures immediately:
- Schools/Headstart/After School Program will be closed from March 16th to March 27th, 2020. All staff with children, or with health issues that would endanger them, will be given extraordinary leave
- Self isolation if you are exhibiting flu like symptoms, and contacting 811 if you feel you might have been exposed.
- Following a 5-6 foot distancing protocol; respecting each other’s space. Plus washing your hands often with soap and water.
- Requiring advance appointments at any Band administration office for the next 2 weeks. There will be no walk-ins from the 16th to the 27th of March, 2020. You are encouraged to conduct business by telephone, teleconference or email. Income Assistance will be distributed starting Monday, March 23rd, at 1:00pm. Clients will be let in individually for cheque pick up.
We realize this is disruptive, but it is necessary and we must do our part to protect the vulnerable. We will update as further information becomes available.
