We, the Chief and Council of the Eel Ground First Nation, in a duly convened meeting held September 10, 2018, selected the following members to receive Band Social Housing:

 2.Hope Ramsay - Split Entry Unit

 3. Justin Larry - Split Entry Unit

 4. Annie Simoneau - Split Entry Unit

 5. Amanda Vicaire - 2 Bedroom Unit

Memo:  Re: Routine Water Maintenance:

Maintenance on the Eel Ground First Nation Water System has been scheduled from Monday, June 25th until Friday, June 29th, 2018.  Flushing of Fire Hydrants and the system throughout the community will occur during this time.

Some discolouration of water may occur during the flushing. Work will be carried out daily between 9am to 4pm

Re: Spring Garbage Collection “Big Garbage Day”

Dear members,

Please note, that the spring garbage collection for this year is scheduled for Thursday, May 31st, 2018. All household items such as appliances and furniture will be accepted.

Items that will NOT be picked up are as follows; paint cans, car parts, tires, propane tanks, Batteries, computers or any other toxic waste. *Tires can be returned to any tire dealer to be recycled.

Please note:

There will be a Household Hazardous Waste & E-Waste Collection: SATURDAY, May 26th, 2018 Time: 8:00 a.m. to 12 Noon. Location: Saint Mary's Catholic Parish, 360 Newcastle Blvd., Miramichi. You must transport your items to this location.

Examples of accepted items: E-Waste: Computers, Stereos, Televisions, Printers, Digital Cameras Household Hazardous Waste: Insecticides, Varnish and lacquers, Propane tanks, Pool chemicals, Batteries, CFL’s.

Eel Ground Waste Transfer Station: Upon Completion of our Waste Transfer Station there will be an additional option for handling the disposal of White Goods, Recyclables, Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste. There will also be an area for leaf and yard waste composting. This facility will be for community use only. Details will follow closer to opening of the site. See our website for the site plan.

"We have been advised that our land Claim filed in regard to loss of lots from our original boundaries had been accepted by Canada to meet the minimum acceptable requirements (Standard Tribunal Wording, they don't give an inch). Canada will now have 3 years from September 2017 to decide if they will negotiate the claim. If they refuse then we will have the option to take it before the Claims Tribunal. We will schedule our Band Legal Rep. Rosalie Francis to come out in the coming months to explain the process."

The Band Council  Election of Eel Ground First Nation will be held on Thursday, May 10th, 2018.

If you wish to vote by mail-in ballot, you must complete this form and send it to the Electoral Officer by mail, fax or e-mail. The information appears below.

You must also include a copy of proof of identity, such as a copy of your Certificate of Indian Status, drivers license, health card, or another document that proves your identity. Do not provide the original identification.

If the Electrol Officer receives this request on or before Friday, May 4, 2018, a mail-in ballot package will be sent to you at the address provided. If you have any questions, please contact the Electoral Officer.
